Hi, Joseph:

Not sure I can help because I've never had to do what you're suggesting. However, I think this is what 'sections' are for. When you get to the page where you want to change the numbering format (for example, page 5), insert a section break.

Once you insert the section break, ensure your mouse pointer is clicked somewhere on page 5, and then edit your header/footer options to change the page numbering format.

At each place in the document where you want the numbering format to change, insert a section break and format the footer to accommodate your wishes.

I hope that will work.
At the end of the page where you would like to change numbering style, click Insert, Page Break, Next Page.

click View

Headers/Footers

On the Headers/Footers Toolbar, click the ';Page Setup'; button.

cl the Layout tab

at the top, be sure it says ';sections start at a new page';

In the Header or Footer, type what you want

click the ';show next'; button to get to Section 2

Then, click the ';link to previous'; button to turn it off

type what you want in Section 2

and so on

creating new sections every time you want to change style within the same document.
