X - 3/x-3
And
X (x-3)^2 (x-4)How do you apply sign test to?
do you just need the answer?
for these you can just assume thay equal zero. so:
x- 3/x - 3 = 0
rearrange so the x's are on one side.
x- 3/x = 3
you don't want it in 3/x, so multiply by x to rearrange it.
x^2 - 3 = 3x
                  use quadratic formula.
x^2 -3x -3 =0
3 (+_) sqrt (9-4*1*-3) 9(+_) sqrt(21)
------------------------------ = -----------------------
               2 2
that's it (+_) is what i used for (plus or minus) by the way.
NUMBER TWO
x (x - 3)^2 (x - 4)
                        distribute the exponent
(x-3)(x-3)
x^2-3x-3x+9
                        simplify
x^2-6x+9
                        plug back in
x(x^2-6x+9) (x-4)
                        solve
(x^3 - 6x^2 +9x)(x - 4)
                         solve
x^4 - 4x^3 - 6x^3 + 24x^2 + 9x^2 - 32x
                          simplify
x^4 - 10x^3 + 33x^2 - 32x
you can factor this, but i don't have a calc, so have fun with that i guess.
