if a job is advertised on craigs's list, how many people on average apply? i know that it depends on the job, but lets say for a patient care assistant that doesn't require a ton of experience. i am curious about how many resumes are usually receivedHow many people on average apply to a job listing?
Well, all I know well is the academic realm. I was recently on the committee to hire my replacement at the University I taught at (I recently retired). I used to work for a city. One entry level job could attract 800 applicants. A job that required special knowledge might attract only 25 applicants. There's a wide range in the number of applicants depending on requirements for the job and the labor pool. Right now, with all the lay-offs and shut downs, the labor pool is growing rapidly and competition is increasing for any job.
